Authors need to be careful when picking character names. That much is obvious. If I wrote a story about a character named Roberta who had a secret life as a magician then everyone would think I lived that life. I wish!
When I set out to write my series I carefully chose the character names. I envisioned the people first then conjured the names that seemed to fit. Imagine my surprise when my Neanderthal Constable Bradley was compared to a beloved and very hip nephew. The comparison never occured to me or to his mother who was one of my first proof readers. If it had, I would have stayed with my orginal name, Constable Bradford even though it felt clumsy every time I wrote it.
I repeat, all the characters and events in the books are complete and utter fabrication. This includes names, hair colour, wardrobe choices and personalities! Don't look for yourself in the story - I guarantee you aren't there!
